Fujitsu Limited and Oracle have joined forces to offer sovereign cloud and AI capabilities that cater to the digital sovereignty needs of Japanese enterprises and governmental bodies. Through the integration of Oracle Alloy into Fujitsu’s Uvance Hybrid IT portfolio, Fujitsu aims to enrich its Hybrid IT offerings, enabling customers to address business growth and societal challenges effectively. This collaboration empowers Fujitsu to independently manage Oracle Alloy within its Japanese data centers, ensuring enhanced control over its operations.

The deployment of Oracle Alloy, a comprehensive cloud infrastructure platform offering over 100 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, including generative AI, marks a significant addition to Fujitsu’s Uvance Hybrid IT portfolio. This integration enables businesses and the public sector to leverage sovereign cloud infrastructure and AI directly from Fujitsu-operated data centers in Japan. As a leading hyperscaler with a robust suite of cloud services, Oracle brings AI capabilities and a comprehensive range of cloud services to local environments, thereby supporting digital sovereignty.

Kazushi Koga, SEVP at Fujitsu Ltd., underscored the collaborative approach adopted by Fujitsu in addressing customer challenges through its Uvance Hybrid IT offerings. The partnership with Oracle positions Fujitsu to deliver a sovereign cloud solution that combines hyperscale functionality with digital sovereignty, all while ensuring operational governance by Fujitsu.

Scott Twaddle, senior vice president of Product and Industries at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, highlighted the transformative potential of Oracle Alloy in enabling Fujitsu’s customers to modernize their businesses and society. He commended Fujitsu’s forward-looking technology strategy, emphasizing Oracle’s commitment to partnering with Fujitsu to extend cloud services globally.

Toshimitsu Misawa, member of the board and corporate executive officer at Oracle Japan, emphasized the strategic significance of the collaboration in meeting the digital sovereignty needs of Japanese businesses and the public sector. Misawa reiterated the commitment of Fujitsu and Oracle to promote the adoption of advanced cloud technologies, including sovereign AI, to enhance the resilience of mission-critical operations for customers.

The collaboration aims to achieve several objectives:

  1. Facilitate the migration of Oracle Database users to the cloud while maintaining operability akin to on-premises environments, particularly for large, sensitive, mission-critical database systems.
  2. Ensure safe and secure data management and cloud usage by deploying and operating Oracle Alloy in Fujitsu’s Japanese data centers, providing a sovereign cloud environment for businesses and the public sector.
  3. Centralize operations and security policies across on-premises and hyperscaler environments through Fujitsu’s operational consulting services and Cloud Managed Service, enabling seamless management across cloud environments.
  4. Enhance customer experiences by granting Fujitsu control over updates and patches in its cloud environment, thereby preventing system outages caused by automatic updates.
