Alteryx’s latest independent research, titled “Defining the Enterprise of the Future,” underscores the transformative role artificial intelligence (AI) is anticipated to play in shaping the trajectory of future enterprises. Drawing insights from 2800 global IT and business decision-makers, the study provides a comprehensive three-year roadmap for businesses navigating an era dominated by AI-driven intelligence.
The study identifies innovation and regulation as twin pillars guiding the evolution of future enterprises, with a specific focus on the commitment of Singaporean business leaders to invest in advanced technology, a sentiment expressed by 58% of respondents. Despite 78% acknowledging that AI is already influencing their organizations, there exists a cautious outlook, with only 47% anticipating universal adoption across all sectors and business functions. This caution is attributed to concerns related to data privacy, transparency, and governance, reflecting the ethical considerations associated with AI.
The research also sheds light on the profound impact of AI on the skill sets required for the workforce of the future. Nearly 30% of respondents perceive the increasing volume and diversity of data as the primary threat in an AI-driven future. Consequently, there is a growing demand for a multi-skilled workforce capable of navigating a data-centric environment. In Singapore, 66% of business leaders prioritize employees with multi-skills over highly specialized ones, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, communication, and digital literacy alongside traditional hard skills.
Philip Madgwick, Senior Director, Asia at Alteryx, emphasizes the alignment of the research findings with Singapore’s efforts to leverage AI’s transformative power. He underscores the crucial role of upskilling initiatives, technology empowerment, and the establishment of appropriate governance and regulatory guardrails to ensure responsible AI implementation.
Conducted in collaboration with Coleman Parkes in September and October 2023, the survey targeted IT decision-makers, data analysts, and line of business leaders, providing valuable insights into the evolving shape of enterprises in the AI-driven future.
