Futurum Intelligence has recently released the ‘AI in The Enterprise Decision Maker Survey,’ a groundbreaking study that independently assessed 159 AI deployment vendors in tech firms. The survey predicts significant shifts in power dynamics within the AI market, posing challenges to traditional IT vendors catering to enterprise AI deployment.

The study highlights a notable change in AI Cloud Compute preferences among enterprises insourcing their AI deployments. While AWS dominated last year with a 22% selection rate, the 2024 forecast indicates a shift towards Google as the top vendor (11.1%), followed by AWS and IBM for new vendor entries.

In the AI Development Tools and Platforms category, enterprises insourcing their development preferences have shifted, ranking Google as the top choice (7.2%). This marks a substantial leap for Google, surpassing AMD and moving from fifth to second place, with AWS and IBM following.

Additional insights from the study include the intention of 45% of outsourcing firms and 47% of insourcing firms to change their vendors by early 2024. The top decision criteria and criteria for excellence prioritize expertise and experience with AI, with Accenture emerging as the primary consultant/integrator among outsourcing firms, followed by Deloitte, CGI, and KPMG.

Marc Beccue, AI Research Director at The Futurum Group, emphasized the expansion of AI investments in 2024, with organizations both retaining and adding new vendors. The SaaS/Embedded AI applications market is described as highly competitive and fragmented, with Google and Microsoft leading choices for new vendors in 2023 and 2024. However, a diverse range of 13 other large SaaS vendors is expected to attract buyer interest, reflecting the variety of quality, AI-integrated solutions.

Keith Kirkpatrick, Research Director, Enterprise Applications, noted the competitiveness of the market, emphasizing the numerous quality, enterprise-grade solutions successfully integrating AI within their platforms. According to Marc Beattie, Head of Futurum Intelligence, the dynamic market benefits customers and integrators, providing credible intelligence on the plans and preferences of enterprise buyers through the AI Decision Maker IQ service.
