Dell Technologies has introduced new storage enhancements to address the growing demand for accelerated AI and generative AI (GenAI) performance. These developments are designed to meet customer requirements for AI-ready infrastructure, providing advanced storage solutions for swift data access across on-premises, edge, and public cloud environments.
The president of Infrastructure Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, Arthur Lewis, emphasized the critical role of storage performance in successful AI and GenAI outcomes. The upgrades on Dell PowerScale, a leading scale-out file storage system, aim to cater to increased demands for higher AI and GenAI performance. Enhancements to PowerScale OneFS software enable organizations to prepare, train, fine-tune, and inference AI models more efficiently.
Dell’s validation of PowerScale for NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD is a significant aspect of these upgrades, anticipating it to become the first Ethernet storage solution validated on NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD. This collaboration allows customers to accelerate their AI and GenAI initiatives with Dell’s industry-leading network-attached storage.
In addition, Dell Technologies is facilitating multicloud strategies, with APEX File Storage for Microsoft Azure delivering enterprise-class file performance and management capabilities within the Microsoft Azure framework. This solution is designed to meet the performance requirements of AI and machine learning applications.
The collaboration with Databricks allows customers to choose from a variety of large language models and retrain foundational models using their proprietary data stored in Dell APEX File Storage.
The global availability of upgrades includes the Dell PowerScale OneFS enhancements this month, while the next-generation all-flash Dell PowerScale systems and smart scale-out feature are expected globally in the first half of 2024. Dell PowerScale’s validation with NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD is projected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. Dell APEX for File Storage for Microsoft Azure is slated to be globally accessible in the first half of 2024. These enhancements position Dell Technologies to meet the evolving needs of enterprises adopting AI technologies.
