Samsung Electronics Singapore and HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance online and public safety in Singapore through technology development and innovation. This partnership aims to foster collaborative initiatives addressing the evolving technological needs of Home Team agencies, enhancing frontline responders’ efficiency and safety, and safeguarding citizens from cyber risks.

Chief Executive of HTX, Chan Tsan, expressed excitement about collaborating with Samsung to co-create the next generation of frontline technology, enhancing safety and operational capabilities for Home Team officers. Dennis Jang, President of Samsung Electronics Singapore, emphasized the shared vision of driving innovation to improve efficacy and create a better future, leveraging Samsung’s technological expertise and HTX’s experience in homeland security.

The MoU outlines three key areas of collaboration:

  1. Strengthening National Cybersecurity: Initiatives include pre-loading anti-scam applications like ScamShield App on Samsung devices in Singapore and promoting cyber hygiene using tools such as Samsung’s Auto Blocker feature. The partnership facilitates information exchange and expertise sharing to foster innovations addressing online risks nationwide.
  2. Augmenting Frontline Operations: Samsung and HTX will co-develop Samsung devices deployed by Home Team agencies, customizing wearables and devices based on departmental needs and local requirements. Potential trials for innovations like exoskeleton solutions and ultra-wideband smart devices aim to enhance officers’ operational and communications capabilities in the field.
  3. Developing Next-Generation Mobility Solutions: The focus is on developing ruggedized handsets and mobile applications for law enforcement agencies, enabling frontliners to remain agile and responsive to emerging threats. This collaboration coincides with Samsung’s participation in Milipol Asia Pacific–TechX Summit 2024, showcasing innovations empowering law enforcement and bolstering cyber defense.

Samsung’s commitment to innovation extends to expanding Galaxy AI features across more devices, including the Galaxy S23, Z Flip 5, Z Fold5, and Tab S9 series. This broader integration underscores Samsung’s dedication to providing users with intelligent, effective, and future-proof technology.
