Since October 2019, Mizutani has held the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Colt, operating from its London headquarters. While continuing to work in London, Mizunati will now have a more active role in overseeing Colt’s business operations and development in Japan and Asia. Katsuya Oe will maintain his role as Representative Director in Japan and Vice President of Sales in Asia, reporting to Mizutani.
The recent appointment follows Colt’s acquisition of Lumen EMEA in November 2023, resulting in the addition of over 1,000 employees to the Colt team. Annette Murphy, formerly President of EMEA & APAC for Lumen and now Chief Commercial Officer at Colt, will be the reporting authority for Mizunati.
In his previous role as CMO, Mizunati played a pivotal role in Colt’s corporate growth and global marketing strategy, including initiatives such as integrating AI. Murphy emphasized the significance of Mizunati’s deep understanding of the Japan and Asia markets, customers, and culture in his new role.
Post-acquisition, Colt has become one of the world’s largest business-only telecommunication service providers, boasting around €2.3 billion in combined revenue.
Mizunati’s professional journey began as a technology support engineer in Asia before joining KVH, the predecessor to Colt, in October 2007. His tenure included a role as a regional/product marketing manager in Singapore from January 2015 to July 2016, after which he relocated to the UK.
Expressing his aspirations, Mizunati aims to replicate the compound annual growth rates (CAGR) outlined in a recent Gartner survey for corporate fixed data networks in Colt APAC. The survey projects a CAGR of 2.4% globally between 2022-2027, compared to 3.9% in Asia and 5.4% in Japan alone, with a higher growth rate anticipated in the APAC region. Mizunati looks forward to achieving similar growth with Colt APAC and its employees across the region.
