Singtel has announced the upcoming launch of its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) in Singapore and Southeast Asia during the third quarter of this year. This service will grant enterprises access to NVIDIA’s AI computing power, aiming to enhance efficiencies and expedite growth and innovation.
Singtel’s GPUaaS will initially utilize NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU-powered clusters, housed in upgraded data centers in Singapore. Additionally, Singtel plans to deploy NVIDIA’s next-generation GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips, known for delivering 30 times faster real-time large language model inference compared to its predecessor. Singtel expects to receive these chips early next year, becoming one of the pioneering NVIDIA Partner Network Cloud Partners.
This initiative provides enterprise customers with various accelerator options to cater to their advanced computing and AI requirements. The GPUaaS will eventually expand to operate in three new sustainable, hyper-connected, high-density AI data centers across Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, set to begin operations under Singtel’s regional data center business, Nxera. Over the next three years, Singtel plans to deploy more than 100MW of these next-generation sustainable AI-ready data centers through Nxera.
According to Mr. Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit and Nxera regional data center business, there is significant interest from both private and public sectors in deploying AI at scale swiftly and cost-effectively. Singtel’s GPUaaS, operating in AI-ready data centers, is specifically designed for intense compute environments, equipped with purpose-built liquid-cooling technologies for maximum efficiency and lowest Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). This setup offers flexibility to deploy AI without the need to invest in and manage expensive data center infrastructure.
Furthermore, Singtel aims to empower enterprises of all sizes to fully leverage AI’s potential through readily accessible compute power, facilitating the development of generative AI, large language models, and other AI workloads. This next-generation digital infrastructure, comprising AI data centers, fixed networks, 5G networks with the patented Paragon orchestration platform, and GPUaaS, is expected to support Singapore’s AI aspirations and bolster its position as a digital and AI hub, while also driving digital transformation in the region.
Mr. Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, expressed the transformative impact of NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform on enterprises, enabling them to revolutionize operations with AI. He noted that Singtel’s GPU-as-a-Service offering, powered by NVIDIA, will unlock efficiencies for businesses across Southeast Asia, leveraging AI’s potential.
