PLDT Inc. and Cisco have joined forces to establish a 5G Stand Alone (SA) service platform in Manila, hosted at PLDT’s existing 5G TechnoLab in Makati City.

PLDT Inc. and Cisco have joined forces to establish a 5G Stand Alone (SA) service platform in Manila, hosted at PLDT’s existing 5G TechnoLab in Makati City. This collaboration aims to foster innovation in Consumer and Enterprise 5G solutions across the Philippines.

Leveraging Cisco’s 5G SA Solution, the platform at PLDT TechnoLab will serve as an end-to-end network sandbox for the latest Private 5G standalone service architecture. This environment will enable enterprises of various sizes and industries to develop digital use cases that harness the capabilities of 5G technology. By providing a secure and open network infrastructure, PLDT aims to accelerate the adoption of 5G and digitalization initiatives nationwide, addressing challenges such as the transition to hybrid work models and the need for enhanced industrial productivity.

In addition to deploying Cisco’s 5G technology, PLDT will benefit from Cisco’s global expertise in various industry verticals, including Industry 4.0 digital transformation and 5G-enabled manufacturing. PLDT will continue to support its customers in exploring trials and advancements in areas like Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Precision Control, integrating existing capabilities in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). With the introduction of 5G Network Slicing, PLDT aims to optimize industrial applications by dynamically allocating bandwidth and service quality based on specific application requirements.
