NTT’s Bangkok 3, classified as a tier-3 facility, is set to boast 12MW of IT capacity upon completion, rendering it significantly larger than NTT’s other data centers in Thailand, both situated in Bangkok.
Bangkok 1 currently accommodates 1.6MW of critical IT load, while Bangkok 2 offers a capacity of 3.6MW.
First announced in March 2023, NTT disclosed plans for a $90 million investment in the facility, covering a sprawling 4,000 square meters of IT space.
Initially slated for operational commencement in the latter half of 2024, a recent statement on NTT’s LinkedIn page indicates a revised timeline, now targeting commercial operations for the second half of 2025.
NTT underscores Bangkok 3’s infrastructure adaptability to effectively cater to hyperscaler and enterprise demands, particularly focusing on AI capabilities.
Positioned adjacent to Bangkok 2 within the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate southeast of the city center, Bangkok 3’s strategic location enhances its accessibility and operational efficiency.
As a founding member of the Thai Data Centre Council, NTT collaborates with four other data center operators to advocate for a conducive policy environment for data center deployment in Thailand.
Established in January, the council appointed Thosaphol Pengsom, a prominent figure in the Thai government with extensive experience in energy, big data, and the digital economy, as its inaugural chairman.
Highlighting the significance of the Asia Pacific region in NTT’s growth strategy, Sutas Kongdumrongkiat, CEO of NTT in Thailand, stresses the necessity of robust infrastructure to support Thailand’s digital transformation efforts, particularly in managing high-volume real-time data transmission.
