By combining the robust telecommunication and digital infrastructure of the PLDT Group with Alibaba Cloud’s proven technologies, the partnership focuses on delivering cloud solutions tailored to the specific needs of local enterprises. Alibaba Cloud’s offerings, such as hybrid backup recovery and hybrid disaster recovery, enhance security measures for customers by providing an additional layer of assurance for their cloud-resident data.

Alibaba Cloud, recognized as the leading public cloud service provider in the Asia Pacific region, established a local data center in the Philippines in 2021. This facility offers a range of proven cloud technologies, including elastic compute services, database storage and backup, disaster recovery, security features, and capabilities in machine learning, data analytics.

Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO, Inc., expressed the significance of the alliance with Alibaba Cloud, describing it as a substantial step toward aiding local enterprises in their digital transformation journey. The partnership is positioned to address the growing interest among local enterprises in adopting cloud technology, as highlighted in a 2023 survey commissioned by Alibaba Cloud. The survey revealed that 85% of Philippine businesses plan to fully migrate to the cloud within two years, with over 90% indicating an intent to increase cloud investments in 2023, driven by the rapid growth of the local data center market and the government’s steadfast digitalization plan.
