Bitera, a prominent data center situated in Jakarta’s main business district, Kuningan, has officially announced its operational readiness. The facility successfully completed Level 5 commissioning tests, or Integrated Systems Testing, in January 2024 under the supervision of Commissioning Agents Inc. (CAI), a leading US data center commissioning firm. Following the tests, Bitera commenced services for its initial clients and is gearing up for a grand launch scheduled by the end of February 2024.

Bitera’s impressive nine-storey facility boasts a critical IT load capacity of 20 MW spread across over 8,600 square meters of colocation space, accommodating up to 4,000 racks. As a Tier-III+ certified establishment, Bitera guarantees a high level of reliability and security. Beyond its technical capabilities, the facility offers luxurious amenities such as meeting rooms, office spaces, and client lounges. It holds certifications from ISO 27001 and Uptime Institute TCCD, with plans to achieve TCCF certification by the end of February 2024.

Indonesia’s digital economy, valued at $77 billion in 2022, is expected to surge to $360 billion, according to a report by Structure Research. This underscores the significant potential for data centers to play a pivotal role in fostering Indonesia’s digital economy. The report also predicts a threefold growth in colocation capacity in Jakarta, increasing from 152 MW to 463 MW between 2023 and 2028.

CEO of Bitera, Tedy Harjanto, emphasized the critical role of Jakarta in the Asia Pacific’s digital economy and stated that Bitera’s presence aligns with its vision to support Indonesia’s digital growth. Harjanto also highlighted Bitera’s commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060 through energy-efficient strategies and minimizing its carbon footprint.

Guillaume Berthet, Director of APAC Data Center Services at CAI, expressed pride in being chosen as Bitera’s commissioning agent and announced the successful completion of all five levels of commissioning. He emphasized that Bitera not only met but exceeded stringent test parameters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Bitera positions itself as Jakarta’s most secure data center, boasting an availability Service Level Agreement (SLA) of five9s. The facility features eight layers of 24/7/365 access and security, along with 2N redundancy for power supply from two diverse main substations. Strategically located just 500 meters from significant internet exchange points, Bitera provides a range of network providers and low-latency connectivity options for clients. As part of its sustainability focus, the facility utilizes eco-friendly cooling systems and operates with 100% renewable energy sourced from the State Electricity Company of Indonesia.

With Bitera’s data center now operational, the company aims to surpass client expectations by delivering advanced data solutions. Bitera is affiliated with the MMS Group Indonesia, a well-established sustainable asset management company with nearly two decades of presence in the Indonesian energy and property sectors, earning multiple awards for its contributions to the country’s sustainable energy transition.
