Autodesk’s latest report, the 2024 State of Design and Make Report, sheds light on the transformative role of digital technology, particularly AI, in driving business resilience and sustainability while shaping the future of work across industries in the Middle East. Based on insights from nearly 5,400 industry leaders and experts worldwide, including the UAE and KSA, the report highlights the region’s progress in incorporating AI, with 46% of Middle Eastern design and make companies indicating successful integration, slightly below the global average of 56%. However, there is strong confidence (85%) among Middle Eastern respondents in their companies’ ability to make informed decisions regarding AI adoption.
Naji Atallah, Head of Construction and Manufacturing, EMEA Emerging at Autodesk, emphasized the significance of AI and digital transformation in fostering innovation and resilience within the region. He underscored Autodesk’s commitment to supporting the Middle East’s technological advancement, aligning with initiatives like UAE Vision 2031 and Saudi Vision 2030.
The report indicates a growing trust in AI across the Middle East, with 87% of industry professionals expressing confidence in its potential benefits, compared to 76% globally. Businesses are leveraging AI to enhance productivity, automate tasks, and optimize decision-making processes, particularly in design and make operations. As companies strive to address talent shortages and increase efficiency, AI’s role in managing workloads and upskilling employees becomes paramount.
Despite challenges in upskilling and talent acquisition, Middle Eastern companies are investing in continuous learning and digital skills training programs. Moreover, sustainability efforts, facilitated by AI, are becoming increasingly crucial for attracting and retaining talent, with 49% of respondents recognizing AI as a vital tool for sustainability initiatives. As the region continues to embrace digital transformation, the report underscores the importance of AI in driving business growth, talent development, and sustainability efforts across industries in the Middle East.
