Veeam Software, a global leader in Data Protection and Ransomware Recovery, has introduced two cutting-edge offerings to merge the reliability of Veeam’s backup and restore capabilities with the simplicity of Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS).

Veeam Software, a global leader in Data Protection and Ransomware Recovery, has introduced two cutting-edge offerings to merge the reliability of Veeam’s backup and restore capabilities with the simplicity of Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS). The first of these, Cirrus by Veeam, is now available for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure users. Cirrus provides a flexible, reliable, and powerful BaaS solution, allowing companies to streamline backup operations while benefitting from Veeam’s renowned technology.

The announcement comes as part of Veeam’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its 450,000 customers, positioning the company as the top global provider of data protection and ransomware recovery. Cirrus by Veeam, acquired from CT4, offers customers multiple options for managing their Microsoft 365 and Azure data:

  1. New Cirrus by Veeam: Delivers a seamless Software as a Service (SaaS) experience, eliminating the need to manage infrastructure or storage.
  2. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure: Allows users to deploy Veeam’s existing software solutions for comprehensive data protection while managing infrastructure.
  3. Backup service from a Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partner: Offers a customized solution built on the Veeam platform, with added services unique to the provider’s expertise.

The Cirrus for Microsoft 365 builds upon Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, delivering it as a service. This all-in-one cloud service simplifies the backup strategy, providing software, infrastructure, and unlimited storage at a single price. It ensures trusted, reliable technology with customizable backup options, flexible recovery, and robust search capabilities.

Cirrus for Microsoft Azure, on the other hand, offers a fully hosted and pre-configured solution for resilient backup and recovery on the Azure platform. It speeds up time-to-value by removing implementation hurdles, leverages best practices, and ensures confident recoverability with customizable Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and recovery to any location.

These innovative offerings reflect Veeam’s commitment to providing enhanced flexibility, security, and user experience, aligning with the growing demands of businesses in the digital landscape. Cirrus by Veeam is available now via the Azure Marketplace, with further expansion planned across additional routes-to-market in early 2024.

“Cloud-based as-a-service delivery for data protection products has become the preferred method of utilizing them. IDC forecasts the data protection as-a-service market will grow at a 19.2% CAGR to a total of $21.4 billion by 2026. Veeam’s new BaaS offering for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure gives the company an immediate entry into this fast-growing market. It expands Veeam’s reach in the market and will ultimately give customers more options and flexibility in using Veeam’s portfolio of products.”
— Phil Goodwin, Research Vice President at IDC

“The simple to use interface was one of the biggest reasons we chose Cirrus to back up our Microsoft 365 data, as well as the ease of set up. We love that Cirrus is powered by Veeam and comes in a SaaS format.”
— Malcolm Plant, Group Cloud & Infrastructure Architect at Webjet Limited
