Global cybersecurity firm Trend Micro has unveiled Trend Companion, a powerful generative AI tool designed to enhance the efficiency of security analysts and simplify cybersecurity processes. Accessible to more than 13,000 Trend Micro customers, Trend Companion aims to bridge the gap between execution and knowledge in Security Operations (SecOps).
In response to the challenges faced by security operations teams dealing with the overwhelming volume and complexity of threat data, Trend Companion provides a cutting-edge solution. The tool empowers SecOps analysts, regardless of experience level, by reducing the mean time-to-understand and enabling quicker, more informed decision-making.
Kevin Simzer, COO of Trend Micro, emphasized the significance of Trend Companion in simplifying and expediting security operations. The tool’s generative AI capabilities include a plain language interface that decodes complex scripts and command lines, facilitating the development and execution of sophisticated threat hunting queries. It also assists incident responders in creating OSQuery queries in the Incident Response (IR) and Forensics module.
Trend Micro anticipates that Trend Companion could potentially decrease the time spent on manual risk assessments and threat investigations by security analysts by 50% or more. The tool’s model-driven threat warnings enhance the overall cybersecurity platform, providing valuable insights for security teams.
Matthew Guzzi, Information Systems Administrator at the South Carolina State Library, shared positive feedback about Trend Vision One, stating that it saved the organization time and helped thwart threats.
Prominent analyst Jon Oltsik from TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group highlighted the potential impact of Trend Companion on cybersecurity teams, stating that it can improve security insights, accelerate threat detection and response, and address industry staffing and talent shortages.
As Trend Micro leads the way with Trend Companion, there is a growing belief among analysts that generative AI will become an integral component of major security solutions in the cybersecurity landscape.
