ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), a rapidly growing data centre provider, has teamed up with Basis Bay, a specialist in sustainable cloud and green data centres, to form a joint venture for the development and operation of data centre projects in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, Malaysia. This partnership aims to address the increasing demand for digital infrastructure in Malaysia and includes plans for the first data centre campus in Cyberjaya, situated just outside Kuala Lumpur. This campus will encompass the construction of two buildings on over three acres of land, offering nearly 20MW of IT load. The first facility, named ‘Cyberjaya DC.2,’ will focus on serving banks, financial institutions, government agencies, and other critical industries, with a focus on security and sustainability, while the second facility, ‘STT Kuala Lumpur 1,’ will serve the hyperscale segment.
This collaboration leverages Basis Bay’s local expertise and network of enterprise customers with STT GDC’s global experience, advanced technology, and access to broader markets. In addition to providing world-class data centre facilities, the partnership will establish a Centre of Excellence to train local talent for the data centre industry. Malaysia’s digital economy is set to make a significant contribution to its GDP by 2025, with STT GDC expanding its presence in Southeast Asia to meet the region’s growing data centre needs.
With this partnership, STT GDC aims to strengthen its position as a leading data centre solutions provider in Southeast Asia and enhance the digital infrastructure in Malaysia.
