ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) is further solidifying its commitment to the digital future of the Philippines by announcing the construction of its second facility at the STT Cavite data center campus, marking the company’s seventh data center in the region. This expansion comes just six months after commencing construction on STT Fairview, reflecting the rapid growth and increasing demand for robust digital infrastructure in the country.

Carlo Malana, President & CEO of STT GDC Philippines, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, “As the Philippines sets its sights on a digital future and rapidly expands its digital capabilities, this forward momentum makes the need for robust digital infrastructure and rich network connectivity even more critical. STT GDC Philippines is vested in being a key contributor to the building of the Philippine digital economy.”

STT Cavite 2, located just outside the capital region, is strategically positioned within a business park with readily available power and network infrastructure. The two-storey facility, with a gross floor area exceeding 4,500 square meters, will deliver up to 6 megawatts of total IT capacity and will be connected to two different power substations.

To ensure the highest standards of reliability and security, STT Cavite 2 will be designed and operated to meet the TIA-942 Certification Rated-3, covering critical aspects of a mission-critical data center. This includes site location, architectural and physical structure, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, fire safety, and physical security.

The data center will provide seamless network connections to STT Makati, one of the most interconnected data centers in the Philippines, granting customers of STT Cavite 2 immediate access to a wide array of local and international network service providers, internet exchanges, and submarine cable systems.

STT Cavite 2 is set to commence operations in mid-2025, marking the second major build by STT GDC Philippines this year, following the groundbreaking on the STT Fairview data center campus. The latter is slated to become the largest, most interconnected, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data center campus in the country, with a total capacity of 124MW upon completion.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, the Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). This partnership represents a significant investment in the digital future of the Philippines and the wider region.

The digital transformation in the Philippines is expected to unlock substantial economic potential, as projected in a recent study. By 2030, the country could harness up to PHP5 trillion (USD101.3 billion) in economic value through the full utilization of digital technologies, constituting approximately 27 percent of the country’s GDP in 2020. This underscores the transformative power of technology in driving economic growth and innovation.
