Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC) celebrated the topping-off ceremony for its BDDC JST 1 (Jakarta – South – East) data center, marking the completion of its development as a tier IV facility in Jakarta. Focused on enhancing capacity, efficiency, and reliability, the BDDC JST 1 is positioned as a critical element in Indonesia’s digital ecosystem across various industries.
Claimed to be Jakarta’s first Tier IV data center, BDDC JST 1 boasts a substantial capacity of 32 megawatts (MW). The topping-off ceremony was attended by Budi Arie Setiadi, the Minister of Communication and Technology Informatics, who emphasized the significant potential of Indonesia’s data centers, estimated at around US$47 billion. Minister Budi highlighted the role of data center managers in serving the community and contributing to digital transformation.
With Indonesia’s internet penetration reaching 78.19% in 2023, BDDC recognizes the growing demand for data center capacity in cities, particularly from global and local companies offering cloud services, technology firms, and various industries entering the digital sector such as finance, banking, insurance, logistics, manufacturing, and oil and gas.
Angelo Syailendra, the President Director of Bersama Digital Data Centres, stated that BDDC JST aims to drive interconnectivity with low latency, high security levels, and a comprehensive ecosystem. The company envisions the data center becoming a hub for digital enablers in Indonesia, catering to the diverse needs of businesses across different scales.
Several digital enablers have already collaborated with BDDC, including Tower Bersama, Moratelindo, Biznet, MVNet, Fiberstar, IDI, Linknet, Synergy Networks, Xenith, Wifiku, Magnet, FMI, Defast, Telkom, HSP, JLM, and Weave.
Since its official launch in May 2023, BDDC continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure. The company emerged through the strategic acquisition of two data centers in Jakarta, with a projected total capacity of 60 megawatts to facilitate interconnectivity in the city.
