Dr. Menaka Guruswamy and Dr. Moshik Temkin join the eminent list of advisory board members at Kautilya School of Public Policy

Kautilya School of Public Policy at GITAM, Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, today announced the appointment of Dr. Menaka Guruswamy, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and Dr. Moshik Temkin, a professor of history and public policy and a Fellow of The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School, to their advisory board. Kautilya,aims to offer  cutting-edge public policy education that will empower the youth to solve our 21st-century problems. Their flagship two-year full-time master’s in public policy (MPP) program will start in August

Dr. Menaka Guruswamy is a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. She is famous for her contribution in many landmark cases- including the Section 377 judgment, the bureaucratic reforms case, the AgustaWestland case, the Salwa Judum case, and the Right to Education case. She has been visiting faculty at Yale Law School and Columbia Law School.

Dr. Moshik Temkin is a professor of history, leadership, and public policy, and a specialist in modern American and international history. At the Harvard Kennedy School and other international institutions, he has taught a seminal course on leaders and leadership in history, and he founded and directed the Harvard Initiative on History and Policy. He will also be teaching these courses as part of his engagement with Kautilya.

Dr. Menaka and Dr Temkin will strengthen the law and the leadership domain at Kautilya and will enable the MPP course to be more holistic and international”, said Mr. Sridhar Pabbisetty, Founding Director of the institute.

Commenting on his engagement with Kautilya School of Public Policy, Dr. Temkin said “A great public policy education is the foundation for a healthy and thriving society, and it is meant for different industries and sectors along with government services. With collective effort from renowned academics, experts, and practitioners, Kautilya School of Public Policy is surely a prestigious collaboration that is designed to help students hone their public policy skills and develop their leadership capabilities. I am very excited to join their advisory board and look forward to engaging the students there.” 

Speaking about public policy at large, Senior Advocate Dr. Menaka Guruswamy said ‘In 2021, the need of the hour is to stand by what is right, ask compelling questions and seek answers from the government and system at large. A public policy degree enables the inculcation of an interdisciplinary analytical methodology in addressing some of the gravest global challenges that face us. I look forward to interacting with the motivated students of Kautilya and serving on its advisory board.’ 

The newly appointed members will join the existing league of eminent personalities on the board including Mr. Anil Swarup, a retired Indian Administrative Service officer and an author, Mr. Dilip Cherian, Communications consultant, political campaign advisor, Prof. Indermit Gill, World Bank Vice President for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions & Non-Resident senior fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution, Prof. M. V. Rajeev Gowda, an Indian politician and academician, Mr. Navtej Singh Sarna, Former Indian Foreign Services Officer and an author-columnist, Ms. Nidhi Razdan, Former Executive Editor, NDTV, Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi, Indian politician serving as Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra and Deputy Leader of Shiv Sena, Mr. Ram Mohan Naidu, Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha constituency), Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Rathin Roy, Managing Director – Research and Policy, ODI and Prof. Steve Jarding, Former Lecturer in Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School and a global political campaign consultant.
