TCL has initiated the #TCLGreen campaign to demonstrate its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey, beginning with a launch event in Roseto Degli Abruzzi, Italy, in cooperation with Warner Bros. Discovery, the top global media and entertainment organization.
TCL’s global #TCLGreen campaign aims to inspire greatness and make the world a greener place for everybody. Aside from co-hosting the launch event, Warner Bros. Discovery has created a visually spectacular film that documents the evolution of the #TCLGreen concept.
Since the event, the tagline #TCLGreen has been used globally to help raise awareness of the importance of sustainability initiatives in local and global communities.
TCLGreen: An artistic way to launch #TCLGreen
At the campaign launch event on the 10th of September, TCL profiled Kevin Chu, the artist and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, to present a ground-breaking sustainable metaphysical art installation called TCLGreen to tell TCL’s ESG story in a creative manner.
TCLGreen, which combines sustainable physical art, interactive art, and metaverse art, is presented in the shape of digital grass blades and uses over 1,000 upcycled and discarded electrical circuit boards supplied by TCL as cladding materials.
The art piece incorporates an artificial intelligence system, allowing viewers to experience it in all its forms in a projected area using VR goggles. TCLGreen can also convert outdoor directional lights collected throughout the day into light sources at night by using photovoltaic panels provided by a TCL partner.
Mario Nunges, mayor of Roseto Degli Abruzzi, attended the event to commemorate the launch of TCLGreen. Following the occasion, TCLGreen will be open to the public in Roseto to encourage more individuals to make positive environmental changes.
Roseto is a small coastal town in central Italy with various national park environmental features. It has implemented sustainable techniques in many facets of town development, making it an ideal place for TCLGreen.
TCL is building a greener future
“The #TCLGreen campaign is a significant milestone in our ESG journey,” said Tiago Abreu, Head of X-Lab Home Eco at Design and Innovation Center, TCL. “We are delighted to work with Warner Bros. Discovery, one of the most iconic brands in media, to expand this positive impact and help inspire more people to make the change that is needed now.”
TCL has integrated the #TCLGreen concept into all elements of its company as a responsible corporate citizen, from developing green factories to delivering green products, embracing green industries, and improving its green industry chain.
TCL uses green manufacturing practices throughout the whole manufacturing and operation process cycles. It has established procedures for managing air pollution, noise pollution, solid waste, and energy resource consumption in accordance with ISO50001 energy management and ISO14064 greenhouse gas management systems.
TCL is dedicated to delivering green products to customers through technological innovation. TCL’s 23.8-inch FHD display achieved energy consumption reduction of 45% compared with conventional products.
As an example of embracing green industries, TCL Technology reduced energy consumption by more than 2.7 billion kWh and saved a total of 45.33 million cubic meters of water in 2021, by leveraging innovative solutions, such as the installation of rooftop photovoltaic panels and pure recycling water systems.
TCL is working with its partners and suppliers to improve its green sector supply chain, which includes procurement, logistics, warehousing, and financing. To improve its supply chain and meet low-carbon objectives, TCL Technology launched a new green supply chain financing model that incorporates carbon accounting in 2021.
In Europe, TCL is a supporting mobile brand of the pan-industry Eco Rating labeling scheme, a stringent eco-rating evaluation system that covers user requirements, expectations, and regulations, from raw and packaging material sourcing to manufacturing and recyclability, to promote a circular economy that closes the loop.
Since 2019, TCL has collaborated with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), state agencies, and local communities to enhance recycling and education initiatives in the United States. The TCL Take-Back Tour, a series of drive-through recycling events, provides individuals in impoverished communities with free recycling solutions for electronics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the program became a paradigm in the industry, earning TCL the first Special Sustainability Leadership Award from the EPA in 2021.
TCL recycles more than 30 million pounds (approximately 13.6 million kg) of electronics every year in the North American market, and it now recycles the equivalent of one TCL television every 10 seconds.
TCL intends to embrace the path of sustainable development and strengthen its commitment to create a greener future for everybody through innovative technologies and clean energy solutions.
