SAP, a global leader in enterprise application software, is set to transform the way businesses operate with the integration of Joule AI throughout its cloud enterprise portfolio. This strategic move aims to provide users with proactive and context-rich insights, harnessing data from across SAP solutions and third-party sources. By swiftly processing and contextualizing data from multiple systems, Joule empowers individuals to work more efficiently and achieve better business outcomes while ensuring security and compliance.
Christian Klein, CEO and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, emphasized the potential impact of Joule, stating, “With almost 300 million enterprise users around the world working regularly with cloud solutions from SAP, Joule has the power to redefine the way businesses – and the people who power them – work. Joule draws on SAP’s unique position at the nexus of business and technology and builds on our relevant, reliable, responsible approach to Business AI. Joule will know what you mean, not just what you say.”
Joule will be seamlessly integrated into SAP applications spanning HR, finance, supply chain, procurement, and customer experience. It will also find its place within the SAP Business Technology Platform. The introduction of Joule promises to revolutionize the SAP user experience, akin to having the smartest colleague available for assistance. Users can simply pose questions or articulate problems in plain language and receive intelligent responses drawn from extensive business data across SAP’s portfolio and external sources, all while retaining context.
For instance, a manufacturer seeking insights into sales performance could turn to Joule for assistance. Joule can identify underperforming regions, connect relevant data sets to reveal supply chain issues, and even propose potential solutions, thereby streamlining the manufacturer’s decision-making process.
Furthermore, Joule will continuously introduce new scenarios for all SAP solutions. In HR, it will aid in crafting unbiased job descriptions and generating relevant interview questions, fostering diversity and inclusion in the hiring process.
Phil Carter, Group Vice President, Worldwide Thought Leadership Research at IDC, commented on the significance of this development, stating, “As generative AI moves on from the initial hype, the work to ensure measurable return on investment begins. SAP understands that generative AI will eventually become part of the fabric of everyday life and work and is taking the time to build a business copilot that focuses on generating responses based on real-world scenarios – and to put in place the necessary guardrails to ensure it’s also responsible.”
Joule is set to become available with SAP SuccessFactors solutions and the SAP Start site later this year, with integration into SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition planned for early next year. Subsequent rollouts will include SAP Customer Experience and SAP Ariba solutions, as well as integration into SAP Business Technology Platform. Numerous other updates across the SAP portfolio are expected to be announced at upcoming events, including SuccessConnect, SAP Spend Connect Live, SAP Customer Experience LIVE, and SAP TechEd.
This integration of Joule builds upon SAP’s existing Business AI offerings, which are already accessible to over 26,000 SAP cloud customers across multiple scenarios and partner solutions. SAP’s comprehensive strategy to create an enterprise AI ecosystem of the future includes direct investments, third-party partnerships, and dedicated funding through Sapphire Ventures LLC.
SAP remains committed to helping businesses operate as intelligent, sustainable enterprises by providing cutting-edge technologies and solutions. With its global network of customers, partners, employees, and thought leaders, SAP continues to simplify technology for companies, enabling them to thrive in an ever-evolving business landscape.
