NTT DATA and NTT Security Holdings have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to enhance the country’s cyber defense efforts. This collaboration was announced during NTT’s IGNITE 2024 summit, a platform aimed at showcasing innovative technologies and empowering local businesses. The event was attended by Mr. Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information in Singapore, who delivered a speech emphasizing the commitment to advancing the digital economy. He also witnessed the signing of the MoU.
The MoU, signed by Mr. Chua Kuan Seah of CSA, Mr. Png Kim Meng of NTT DATA, Inc. Singapore, and Ms. Mihoko Matsubara of NTT Security Holdings Corporation, seeks to facilitate discussions on cybersecurity collaboration. This includes intelligence exchange on cyber threats, technical cooperation to develop cybersecurity solutions, and research to support Singapore’s national cyber defense efforts. Additionally, CSA and NTT will collaborate to assess opportunities, risks, and challenges associated with emerging technologies such as AI and quantum security.
This initiative aligns with NTT DATA’s ongoing commitment to Singapore, which includes talent development and sustainable innovation. With a USD 10 million investment, NTT DATA will partner with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and institutes of higher learning to cultivate the next generation of tech leaders. Initiatives like the Company-Led Training (CLT) program under the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) Initiative aim to train tech talent in areas such as Cybersecurity, Network & Infrastructure, Software & Applications, and Cloud Computing. Additionally, NTT DATA has invested in a secure data sovereignty platform to enhance security, facilitate faster learning, and promote sustainability.
Mr. Chua Kuan Seah emphasized the importance of collaboration in cybersecurity, stating that CSA aims to leverage industry capabilities and expertise to protect Singapore’s cyberspace. This partnership with NTT marks the foundation of a strong public-private cybersecurity community to enhance situational awareness and deliver better cybersecurity outcomes.
Mr. Png Kim Meng highlighted the significance of the MoU in strengthening the nation’s cyber defense amid technological advancements. He stressed the need for robust solutions to safeguard critical infrastructure and sensitive data, aiming to set new standards in cybersecurity.
NTT Security Holdings CEO, Shinichi Yokohama, affirmed the company’s commitment to global cybersecurity, citing the MoU as an example of proactive collaboration with cybersecurity stakeholders.
