NAVER Z to Power Metaverse Ecosystem in Thailand with TRUE

NAVER Z has announced that the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand’s biggest communications conglomerate TRUE Corporation to build a global metaverse hub for creators.

Kang Hee-suk, Head of Business at NAVER Z, and Birathon Kasemsri, Chief Content and Media Officer at TRUE, formed a collaboration to cultivate the metaverse ecosystem on ZEPETO on Aug. 31, 2022, at a TRUE branded shop in Siam Square in Bangkok.

In Thailand, where the platform is positioned as the most popular metaverse service among Generation Z, there are currently millions of ZEPETO members. On ZEPETO, more than 500,000 Thai people are actively working as creators. ZEPETO, in particular, is gaining popularity as a platform for K-Pop content, which has a sizable following in Thailand.

On August 31, BVLGARI’s global ambassador, Thai musician Lisa of BLACKPINK, organized a virtual fan event where fans could participate in various activities such as snapping photographs with Lisa’s avatar on ZEPETO BVLGARI World. More than 13 million BLACKPINK-related merchandise were sold as of August 2022, while the ZEPETO x BLACKPINK collaborative music video had over 130 million views.

As of August 2022, ZEPETO had reached 20 million global monthly active users (MAU). By cooperating with over 100 worldwide brands and celebrities, the metaverse platform has exceeded 5 billion content creations and 3 billion item sales.

ZEPETO is creating synergies by collaborating with fashion and beauty companies, including BVLGARI, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Nike, Christian Dior, global entertainment agencies and pop stars, such as TinyTAN, Selena Gomez, BLACKPINK and NMIXX as well as companies, such as Hyundai Department Store Duty Free, CASTiFY, Samsung and Hyundai Motor Company. Moreover, thousands of brands are actively bringing out various marketing activities on the platform, targeting Gen Zs in particular.

ZEPETO Studio, a creator platform that allows users to develop and sell various virtual objects, has rapidly grown its ecosystem since its inception in March 2020. Over 7 million things were created by ZEPETO creators, and over 175 million pieces were sold. ZEPETO has enabled users to commercialize their creations.
