SearchInform, a provider of risk management and information security solutions, recently conducted a survey revealing concerning security statistics within Thailand’s business sector.

The report sheds light on knowledge and practices related to data security in Thai corporations, indicating a growing trend of internal information security incidents. The results show a significant increase, with 46.4% of Thai company representatives acknowledging a rise in such incidents caused by employees this year.

Vlada Brozovskaya, PR Manager of SearchInform, expressed concern about the trend outlined in the survey. Brozovskay noted that while the data is specific to Thailand, it offers insights into the broader information security landscape. Nearly half of the respondents observed an uptick in information security incidents, emphasizing the urgent need for organizations to prioritize internal information security.

The survey, conducted in October in Thailand, not only highlighted the surge in security incidents but also revealed that a substantial number of Thai companies perceive internal security threats as more significant than external ones. About 35.7% of Thai company representatives believe that internal incidents pose a higher risk than external attacks, emphasizing the necessity for businesses to focus on internal security for safeguarding sensitive data.

Alexey Pinchuk, Chief Business Development Officer of SearchInform, commented on the survey’s findings, stating that low information security protection among Thai businesses is not surprising. He pointed out that while 75% of respondent companies have implemented antivirus solutions, even this measure is not universally adopted. Pinchuk highlighted the early stage of adoption of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) in Thailand, with only around 14% of organizations implementing it.

Pinchuk stressed the critical need to protect data, particularly for compliance with local and international laws. He suggested that SearchInform solutions can assist businesses in meeting these requirements.

SearchInform, specializing in information security and risk management solutions, aims to address pressing information security issues through strategic solutions. The survey serves as a wake-up call, emphasizing the importance of internal information security, often overlooked in business operations.
