This intensified partnership follows Cohesity’s successful Series F financing round, with IBM and NVIDIA joining as strategic investors.
The Cost of a Data Breach report, supported by IBM Security, revealed a global average data breach cost of $4.45 million in 2023, marking a 15% increase over three years. IBM is integrating Cohesity’s technologies into its IBM Storage Defender platform to enhance customers’ ability to recover from cyber incidents.
Sanjay Poonen, CEO and President of Cohesity, commended IBM’s role in the enterprise cloud and IT infrastructure market, highlighting their investment in research and development to bolster cyber resilience. Ric Lewis, SVP of Infrastructure at IBM, emphasized the growing threat of data breaches and the joint effort to provide innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
The collaboration combines Cohesity DataProtect with IBM’s Storage Defender Solution to offer customers comprehensive data protection, monitoring, and recovery capabilities. Cohesity DataProtect ensures secure backup and recovery across various data sources, while IBM Storage Defender employs AI and event monitoring to safeguard against cyber threats.
The integration is expected to include features such as a cyber vault and automated recovery functions, streamlining the process of recovering critical data from cyber incidents. The companies’ shared vision underscores their commitment to addressing evolving cybersecurity challenges, albeit subject to potential changes in product direction.
