Abouelwafa, a seasoned professional with nearly 30 years of experience in storage and technology, will be responsible for identifying and evaluating emerging technologies. His role involves executing a forward-looking roadmap aligned with the company’s business strategy. Abouelwafa, reporting directly to Hitachi Vantara’s CEO Sheila Rohra, will also serve on the executive committee.

In his previous role as CTO in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise storage group, Abouelwafa played a key role in commercializing technologies and managing strategic research. As an HPE fellow, he contributed to innovative technical solutions and identified trends shaping technology and business strategies. With multiple patents and publications covering various storage systems architecture and technologies, Abouelwafa holds degrees in computer control, electrical engineering and computer engineering, and a Master of Business Administration.
