The signing took place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024 in Fira Gran Via and was witnessed by Malaysia’s Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

The agreement focuses on bolstering Malaysia’s cybersecurity defenses by collaborating to combat cyber threats and sharing threat intelligence. The CEO of CSM, Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, and CTM360 CEO Mirza Asrar Baig signed the MoU, highlighting the commitment to a long-term strategic partnership and the development of public-private collaborations in the realm of cybersecurity.

The framework outlined in the MoU includes key objectives such as the exchange of cybersecurity information, promoting bilateral cooperation, knowledge sharing through specialist engagements, joint training programs, seminars, and undertaking mutually beneficial actions. The collaboration aims to harness the expertise, resources, and innovative capabilities of both organizations to effectively combat evolving cyber adversaries.

Amiruddin emphasized the importance of CTM360’s specialization in managing and responding to risks on the surface, deep, and dark web, noting that their experience would be valuable in identifying and mitigating potential threats to Malaysia’s digital ecosystem. The collaboration is seen as a demonstration of shared determination to navigate the ever-changing landscape of online risks and strengthen Malaysia’s cyber defenses.

The agreement outlines five key areas of collaboration designed to reduce cyber threats, including establishing a shared platform to offer expertise, developing a risk-based maturity model aligned with national cybersecurity goals, implementing capacity-building programs, facilitating the exchange of cybersecurity information, and initiating joint projects to advance national cybersecurity.
