BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) has partnered with the SANS Institute (SANS) to provide cybersecurity training courses in Malaysia through the BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Kuala Lumpur. The collaboration aims to enhance Malaysia’s national cybersecurity capacity by offering advanced technology and training, focusing on critical areas such as forensics and incident response. The inaugural training, “SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling,” is open for registration and will take place from March 11 to 16.
This partnership with SANS is a significant step in BlackBerry’s cybersecurity deal with the Government of Malaysia, announced in November 2023. As part of the deal, BlackBerry is deploying its trusted cybersecurity solutions in Malaysia and establishing the CCoE to educate, train, and upskill cyber professionals, contributing to the growth of the cybersecurity ecosystem.
SANS Institute, a leading provider of cybersecurity education, sees training and continuous learning as essential for building cyber resilience. The partnership with BlackBerry in Malaysia will enable SANS to offer globally accredited training programs to enhance technical capabilities among cyber professionals and provide opportunities for those entering the cybersecurity field.
In addition to SANS programs, BlackBerry will offer its own curriculum at the CCoE and collaborate with Malaysian universities and institutions to provide a diverse range of courses, certifications, and programs, aiming to build skilled cybersecurity workforces in Malaysia and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
John Dimitropoulos, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at BlackBerry Cybersecurity, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing BlackBerry’s expertise in protecting global governments from cyber threats and the joint commitment to establishing a competitive skills and learning ecosystem in Malaysia and the Indo-Pacific region.
