Finance Minister Asks Infosys to Fix Glitches in New Income Tax e-Filing Portal
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has asked Infosys and its chairman Nandan Nilekani to fix glitches related to the new income tax e-filing portal that was launched on June 7, 2021. Infosys has developed the new website for filing income tax returns.
Sitharaman said that she received many grievances about glitches from citizens on her Twitter timeline and urged Infosys to fix them and ensure that there is no “let down” in the quality of service being provided to taxpayers.
The finance minister’s appeal on Twitter came after many users started reporting outage issues when they tried to open the new income tax e-filing portal. Some users said they are still struggling to access the new e-filing portal.
Infosys was awarded the contract to develop the next-generation income tax filing system in 2019, with the intent to reduce the time taken to process income tax returns from 63 days to a single day. The firm had won the contract with a bid of Rs 4,242 crore.

Juniper Networks and NEC Build New Network to Create South Africa’s First Commercial Network Driven by Segment Routing
Juniper Networks and NEC Corporation have announced that they have worked with Herotel, South Africa’s largest fixed wireless service provider, to enable the country’s first commercial network to deploy segment routing as part of a significant network upgrade initiative.
Herotel chose to build its new IP network based on segment routing principles, augmenting traditional MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) techniques, to maximize operational flexibility and agility and to help deliver improved, consistent user experiences at scale and cost-effectively. Segment routing is a control-plane architecture which simplifies traffic engineering, enabling the path that data packets take across the network to be determined in advance. This means fewer network elements are involved, avoiding slow response to sudden network changes. It also supports the application QoS (Quality of Service), mapping specific applications and end users to preferential network service paths.
