Consumers Spent $40 Billion on App Store, Double than on Google Play
Consumers globally spent $41.5 billion on the App Store in the first half of 2021, which is almost double that of the Google Play Store, according to the new study from Finbold.com.
According to data acquired by Finbold.com, the spending represents a growth of 22.05 percent from a similar period in 2020. The Google Play spending represents a growth of 30 percent on a year-over-year basis.
Short video sharing platform TikTok extended its dominance into 2021, emerging as the most grossing app for the first half at $920 million, followed by YouTube at $564.7 million. Dating app Tinder ranks third at $520.3 million. Data on mobile app spending and grossing is provided by SensorTower.
Wipro and Here Partners for Location-based Services and Analytics
Wipro has partnered with the location data and technology platform Here Technologies to offer location-based services, to customers from Energy & Utilities, Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics, Telecom and Automotive industry verticals.
As part of this announcement, Wipro and Here will be jointly developing solutions in the areas of asset tracking, logistics, supply chain, smart-metering and analytics, field workforce management, and private mapping-as-a-service for indoor and outdoor real-time asset tracking.
Check Point Acquires Cloud Email and Collaboration Security Firm Avanan
Check Point Software Technologies has acquired the cloud email security company Avanan. The company provides security for emails and SaaS collaboration suites.
Avanan will integrate into the Check Point Infinity consolidated architecture to a secure email security offering. Utilizing patented technology designed and built for cloud email environments, this will be the only unified solution in the market to protect remote workforce from malicious files, URLs and Phishing across email, collaboration suites, web, network, and endpoint. Avanan, founded in 2015, developed a patented application-programming interface (API) solution to stop email threats before arriving to the inbox (inline), for both internal and external emails using AI-based engines. With over 100 employees, it protects more than 5000 customers and over 2.5 million inboxes. The solution deploys in minutes like an app and is configured in a few clicks.
