Zoom to Acquire Five9 to Take on Google, Microsoft and Facebook

Zoom has planned to buy cloud contact center software provider Five9 Inc in an all stock deal worth about $14.7 billion.

The popular video conferencing provider is now shifting focus to its cloud calling product Zoom Phone and conference hosting product Zoom Rooms as bigger players Microsoft, Facebook and Google amp up their video products.

The Five9 acquisition will help Zoom expand offerings to its more lucrative business and enterprise clients. Five9 makes cloud-based software that uses artificial intelligence to help companies answer questions from customers and interact with them regardless of language, location or device.

50,000 Phone Numbers Worldwide Linked to Israeli Spyware

An Israeli firm accused of supplying spyware to governments has been linked to a list of 50,000 smartphone numbers, including those of activists, journalists, business executives and politicians around the world.

Israel’s NSO Group and its Pegasus malware have been in the headlines since at least 2016, when researchers accused it of helping spy on a dissident in the United Arab Emirates.

As per the reports, spyware Pegasus may have been used to conduct surveillance on about 300 Indians, including two serving union cabinet ministers, three opposition leaders, government officials, scientists and about 40 journalists, according to Forbidden Stories, a Paris-based journalism nonprofit, and Amnesty International.

ACC, Ambuja Cements Redefine Logistics Operations with Transport Analytics Center

Holcim is deploying its Transport Analytics Center (TAC) in 35 plants of ACC and Ambuja in India to optimize its logistics for road safety, enhanced efficiency and sustainability. TAC is currently tracking more than 20,000 trucks through various data sources like ERP, in-vehicle monitoring system (IVMS), NFC, RFID and others for advanced analytics and artificial intelligence applications.

Globally, transportation accounts for around a fifth of the world’s emissions and going farther with less is an essential part of ACC and Ambuja Cement’s Net-Zero pledge.
