HP Maintains Lead as India Sees Over 3 Million PCs Shipped for the 2nd Consecutive Quarter
HP Inc has maintained its lead in the India PC market with a 33.6 percent share as its shipments grew 54.2 percent annually.
HP shipped over half a million notebooks in the consumer segment, registering the highest shipments in the consumer notebook segment in a quarter by any vendor in India. Better allocation to the country and timely supplies helped the vendor to further widen its lead in the PC category.
The India traditional PC market (inclusive of desktops, notebooks, and workstations) continued to be robust as the shipments grew by 50.5 percent year-over-year (YoY) in Q2 2021 (Apr-Jun), according to new data from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker. A total of 3.2 million PCs were shipped in the quarter, with all product categories reporting strong double-digit growth. In the absence of any large education and government deal, this was the second consecutive quarter when India’s PC market saw shipments of over 3 million PCs, underlining the growth in the enterprise, SMB, and consumer segments.
Notebook PCs continue to hold more than three-fourth share in the overall category and grew 49.9 percent YoY in Q2 2021, reporting a fourth consecutive quarter with over 2 million units. Desktops also indicated a recovery as shipments grew 52.3 percent YoY after recording the lowest shipments of the decade in Q2 2020.
90% Enterprises Yet to Achieve Digital-First Goals; Cyber Security on Priority
90 percent of enterprises are yet to achieve their digital-first goals with 49 percent admitting that cyber security is the top most priority for their business, according to a report from Tata Communications.
The report titled, ‘Leading in a Digital-First World; Enabling Success with the Right Mindset, Ecosystem and Trust,’ brings to light, 45 percent of enterprises lost productivity during the crisis due to problems of connectivity and 41 percent enterprises attribute the shift to digital-first operating models for maintaining market share during the course of the pandemic. The survey was conducted among business leaders across 750 enterprises 750 Enterprises surveyed globally in 11 countries.
Indian Immunologicals Receives License to Augment Manufacturing Capacity of Covaxin
Department of Biotechnology and BIRAC have launched a project to augment production capacities of Covaxin, under the Mission Covid Suraksha announced by the Government of India, under Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 to accelerate the development and production of Indigenous Covid Vaccines.
Under this project, Indian Immunologicals, Hyderabad, is the first site to receive a loan license for supplying Covaxin drug substance produced at its repurposed facility to Bharat Biotech. Indian Immunologicals will supply the first lot of commercial Covaxin drug substance to Bharat Biotech in August. The facility will produce 2-3 million doses per month initially, and another 4-5 million doses from its new facility at Karkapatla, in next few weeks.
