Govt to Support 300 Startups for Creating 100 Unicorns
The government has launched a program to support 300 IT startups under which it will provide seed funding, mentorship and market access with a view to creating 100 unicorns out of the selected start-ups.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the concept of the Startup Accelerator of MeitY for Product Innovation, Development & Growth (SAMRIDH) has been developed on the lines of silicon valley-based accelerator YCombinator.
Under the Samridh program, MeitY will provide seed funds of up to Rs 40 lakh for the selected start-ups and mentorship for six months.
97.5% of Indian Organizations Increase Adoption of Cloud-based Cybersecurity Solutions
Ninety six percent of enterprises have increased their budget investment in security operations during the Covid-19 pandemic, 86 percent have increased their staffing and 91 percent have increased their adoption of advanced security technologies, according to the annual State of Security Operations report from CyberRes, a Micro Focus line of business.
Along the same lines, security operations centers (SOCs) have increased their adoption of the cloud, with 95 percent now deploying their solutions in hybrid-cloud environments, a radical adoption rate fueled by the need to better manage security operations.
In India, 97.50 percent respondents have increased the adoption of cloud-based cybersecurity solutions and 88.8 percent respondents have increased the adoption of a zero-trust policy. In addition, 62.5 percent of the respondents have already adopted automated threat intelligence platform(s).
44% Rise in Collaboration Tools Usage in 2021
Nearly 80 percent of workers are using collaboration tools for work in 2021, up from just over half of workers in 2019, according to the Gartner Digital Worker Experience Survey. This is an increase of 44 percent since the pandemic began.
Storage/sharing and real-time mobile messaging tools also saw increased use during the pandemic, used by 74 percent and 80 percent of 2021 respondents, respectively.
While workers globally reported that they spent, on average, 63 percent of their meeting time in-person in 2019, which dropped to 33 percent by 2021 as more meetings took place over audio and video-enabled meeting solutions. The shift away from in-person meetings is expected to continue. Gartner predicts that by 2024, in-person meetings will drop from 60 percent of enterprise meetings to 25 percent, driven by remote work and changing workforce demographics.
