Despite being over a year into remote working, security remains a key concern for respondents both globally and in India.
While 38 percent of respondents from India continue to be very concerned about the security risks while working remotely, globally, this figure stands at 39 percent.
This is just one of the key insights from the 2021 Thales Global Data Threat Report, a commissioned study conducted by 451 Research, which reveals that managing security risks is undoubtedly getting more challenging, with almost 40 percent of respondents from India reporting an increase in the volume, severity, and/or scope of cyber-attacks in the last 12 months.
For respondents from India, malware (56 percent) is the leading source of security attacks followed by ransomware (53 percent), and phishing and credential stuffing (both 43 percent).
IISER Bhopal Researchers Identify Mechanism of Breast Cancer Progression
Researchers from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal have shown the mechanism by which breast cancer cells proliferate and spread. Their findings have important implications in designing therapeutic interventions for breast cancer.
The IISER team studied the regulation of one particular gene called ‘ESRP1’ in breast cancer. The researchers found that there is a difference in the expression of the ESRP1 gene between normal and tumor tissues of breast cancer patients. The researchers explore the regulatory mechanism behind ESRP1 up regulation in breast tumor tissues.
In India, breast cancer accounted for 11.1 percent of cancer deaths in 2020, resulting in the need for aggressive research into understanding and treating this malady.
