India IT Spending to Grow at 8% in 2021
India IT spending is expected to touch $92.7 billion in 2021 growing at 8 percent over 2020, as per the latest forecast by Gartner.
The research firm revised its growth forecast from 7.3 percent that it announced in April 2021. The growth is however still notch less against 8.6 percent of the world average. The global spending on information technology is estimated to reach $4.2 trillion.
As per Gartner estimates, enterprise software will be the biggest growth area, and growth in spends is estimated to be maintained at 16.9 percent to $9.218 billion in 2021.
Bitcoin Payments to Ransomware Hacker Groups Hits $60 Million
Bitcoin has emerged as one of the preferred payment methods for hackers with payments valued at over $60 million. As per the data acquired by crypto currency trading simulator Crypto Parrot, the amount of Bitcoin paid to major hacker groups has a value of $60.87 million or 5,491,37 BTC. The Netwalker ransomware accounts for the highest payments at $27.95 million, followed by REvil at $11.32 million, while Ryuk ranks third with $4.67 payments in Bitcoin.
The rise in Bitcoin as the preferred payment method for hackers is due to the cryptocurrency’s anonymous nature. Criminals prefer Bitcoin because it is not easy to track beneficiaries of the asset.
US Leads as Global Orbital Rocket Launches Surge by 44 Percent in H1 2021
The global number of orbital rockets launched in H1 2021 surged 43.9 percent compared to the first half of 2020, as per data acquired by Finbold. As of 2021, the orbital rocket launches stood at 59, while last year, the figure was at 41.
In 2021, the United States showed dominance, accounting for about 49 percent of the launches at 29. China recorded 18 launches, followed by Russia at seven. French space company Arianespace accounts for four orbital launches. India ranks in the fourth spot with one mission.
Space travel is growing in popularity, with private companies and governments moving forward to show their dominance in the sector.
