Singapore-based Bolttech Secures $180 Million in Largest Series-A Funding for Insurtech
Singapore-based insurtech firm Bolttech has secured $180 million in series-A funding led by Activant Capital Group. With the latest funding, the startup has become a unicorn by breaching valuation of $1 billion.
The funding has come only a year after the firm’s 2020 launch and is reportedly the largest series-A for an insurtech company. Founded in 2020, Bolttech runs an insurance exchange platform that connects insurers, distributors, and customers to make transactions easier. It currently transacts $5 billion worth of premiums with 5,000 products and more than 150 providers on its platform.
The firm is present in three continents and serves 14 markets worldwide including India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
HPE to Acquire Zerto to Boost Greenlake, Storage
Hewlett Packard Enterprise has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Zerto, a cloud data management and protection company, in a transaction valued at $374 million. This acquisition expands HPE GreenLake and continues to deliver on HPE Storage’s shift to a cloud-native, software-defined data services business.
HPE is touting the purchase as an extension of its HPE Greenlake edge-to-cloud strategy, and its shift to a cloud-native, software-defined data services business.
Former Hitachi Chairman Hiroaki Nakanishi Dies at 75
Hiroaki Nakanishi, a former executive chairman of conglomerate Hitachi, has died of lymphoma at the age of 75. The businessman was known for his efforts to revamp long-standing customs in corporate Japan and also led a transformation of Hitachi.
Nakanishi stepped down last month as the 14th chief of the Japan Business Federation, also known as Keidanren, to focus on treatment for lymphoma.
Nakanishi graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1970 and joined Hitachi the following month. He climbed the ranks from factory manager to head of the European business, and to the President in 2010.
